Cristina Alba, MSW, LGSW
Cristina brings deep care and dedication to her work with children and families. Cristina is a play therapist at The Sibley Group and has a wide range of training in both directive and non-directive play therapy models, expressive arts therapies, relationship enhancement models, and parent-centered approaches. She has experience in trauma, attachment concerns, child/parent relationships, generalized and social anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and ADHD.
Cristina believes that change and healing occur when there is a base of trust and acceptance in the therapeutic relationship. Her style builds off the strengths of her clients and collaboration to understand their unique experiences. She brings authenticity and warmth to foster positive relationships, manage and understand emotions, and increase resilience.
Cristina holds a Master of Social Work from The Catholic University of America and a Bachelor in Early Childhood Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University. After a decade of working in early childhood education as a lead teacher at various schools in the Washington DC area, Cristina is transitioning to clinical social work to continue and enhance her passion for young children’s mental health. Cristina is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) in Washington DC and a Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW) in both Virginia and Maryland.
