Emily is an associate-level therapist at The Sibley Group, specializing in working with children, teens, and families. Prior to joining TSG, Emily served as a middle school counselor at a District of Columbia Public Charter School. Emily specializes in working with children and adolescents who have experienced significant challenges in both their home and social environments, and she uses trauma-informed approaches to support them. Emily uses a client-centered, inclusive approach, while also incorporating evidenced-based play therapy and cognitive behavioral (CBT) techniques. Emily draws on her experience in both school and private practice settings to support clients in navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, OCD, ADHD, and other emotional challenges.
In therapy, Emily believes that fostering open communication, being authentic, collaborating with the client, and creating a secure connection sets the foundation for a positive, strong therapeutic relationship. She is goal-oriented, non-judgmental, and genuine, and she always strives to create an environment of understanding and support for the client’s unique experiences. Emily is skilled in family consultations and enjoys helping children and their caregivers build stronger, more uplifting relationships. She believes in the importance of allowing children to express themselves, both verbally and nonverbally, as they navigate their emotions.
Emily holds a Master of Arts in School Counseling from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fordham University, with a focus on child and adolescent development. Emily was born in New York City, is a native of New Jersey, and currently resides in Arlington, VA.
